Sound and Light Karnak Temple

This excellent show gives you the chance to see Karnak Temple lit up at night. The show begins at the entrance with a guided tour through the ghostly hypostyle halls, leading to tiers of seats overlooking the Sacred Lake where lights pick out pillars and status as the show tells the millennia-long history of Thebes. Luxor Museum

Luxor has a great museum that is very modern and with an uncluttered layout. Top exhibits include pink granite and black basalt statues from many dynasties. Items from the tomb of Tutankhamen (most are in the Egyptian Antiquities Museum in Cairo) and exhibits from Pharaonic and Roman times. Duration:11/2 hours. Price:£10

Valley of the Queens, Hatshepsut Temple- Luxor Unfinished Obelisk-Aswan

In total more than 70 queens and princess were buried at the Valley of the Queens. Visit the tomb of Nefertari, favorite wife of Ramses 11; although none of the treasures survived the tomb robbers the chambers are elaborately decorated.

Hatshepsut Temple the funerary temple of Tuthmois 1, the first woman to rule Egypt in her own right. Superbly detailed colonnades are stunning and worth a visit. The unfinished obelisk is at a granite site where the obelisks were cut. The unfinished one is a large obelisk which split unusually and tumbled down. It still lies were it fell over 2,000 years ago! Abu Simbel - by plane

This trip involves an early start, the flight takes approx 30 minutes and you spend just over one hour at Abu Simbel. A local guide will escort you to see the amazing temples and status all of which had to be moved to ensure they were saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser in 1968. This in itself was an engineering masterpiece.

The Great Temple of Ramses 11 and the Temple of Hathor built by Ramses 11 are spectacular and one of the best sights Egypt has to offer. Really not to be missed. Please note, the time spent at Abu Simbel is quite short, especially if there are queues at the ticket offices at the site during peak season, if you are keen to spend plenty of time at this wonderful site the coach option should be considered as longer time is available within the programme.Duration: about 4.5 hours. This trip involves a very early start, the coach travels in convoy with other coaches and minibuses. It is very comfortable on board and during the 3 hour journey you get the chance to catch up on sleep, or view many sights of the desert and watch the sun rise, if you are very lucky you might see a mirage.
