" What a wonderful trip we have just had on the Nile Cruise. The staff
were charming, fantastic with our children and they had such a good time.
The food was delicious and we are still not sure how the chef manages
to produce such feasts, both at lunchtime and dinner aboard. All the
sights along the Nile were amazing but we are so glad we got up early
and visited Abu Simbel it is a memory we shall carry with us for many
a year"

The great temples of Abu Simbel built by Ramses II are an awe inspiring
image of ancient Egypt. There are two temples, one was for Ramses and
the other he built for his queen Nefertari and their sons and daughters.
In an amazing modern engineering feat both had to be dismantled and relocated 65 metres above and 200 metres west of their original location in 1968 because of the rising waters caused by building the Aswan High Dam. Most of the original temples remain intact and a visit is highly recommended.
Abu Simbel lies 280 km south of Aswan on the West bank of the Nile and 52km from Egypt's border with Sudan. The site was known as Meha in ancient times and was first documented in the 18th Dynasty.

However, a safe and relaxing cruise also depends on the co-operation of the passengers. Instructions for use are posted in the cabin. Fire precautions are posted in various locations throughout the ship as well as in the cabins and guests are advised to familiarise themselves with these instructions as soon as possible. Cabins should be kept locked for security reasons and keys should be kept in reception. When the ship is moored windows should be kept closed when cabins are not occupied.
Valuables should be kept in the safe deposit boxes available at reception. Care should be taken when passing through doorways as there are often raised thresholds which must be stepped over. Always remember that the pool area and shower areas can be very slippery when wet. Flat, rubber soled shoes are recommend on deck.
